This property had been rented out for years and the interior was tired and in need of an update and all the services needed renewing. Our brief was to update the interiors but to do so whilst respecting the character of the building and retaining any period features. Changes were to complement the house and improve its layout and increase the amount of natural light coming into the house.
The entire house was re-wired and a new heating system installed. The existing bathrooms were stripped out and replaced and an additional en-suite bathroom was added to the guest bedroom.
Downstairs the long thin drawing room, which was hard to furnish, was reduced in length to create better proportions and shape and glass doors give a sense of more space and introduce more daylight. The kitchen was extended and extra windows and French doors added to allow for more light and space and views into the garden.
The upstairs landing ceiling was raised to a pitch in order to increase a feeling of space and an extra window was installed for extra natural light.
